PREDICTIONS FOR 2019

                                                         PREDICTIONS FOR 2019

  1.  The House of Representatives will initiate efforts to impeach Donald Trump, all of which will be unsuccessful. The most difficult obstacle will be that they cannot find a high crime or misdemeanor to charge him with.
  • Ruth Bader Ginsberg will leave the U.S. Supreme Court, leaving one more opportunity for President Trump to tilt the court more conservative.
  • Michelle Obama will eventually emerge as the front runner in the Democratic primary hustle, despite her lack of governmental experience. In reality, this will unofficially provide a third term for Barack Obama
  • There will be a compromise on the wall/fence construction completing some 40 or 50 more miles, and giving each party the ability to claim success through bi-partisanship.
  • New waves of immigrants will form caravans to the United States from Central and South America (Venezuela) after seeing the success of caravans in 2018.
  • Soccer will start emerging as a significant professional sport in the United States.
  • I think Mike Pence will step down as Vice-President when the primary elections draw near. Multiple reasons. Look for a female to take his place.  Nikki Haley?
  • New plans will pass to improve health care and immigration reform in 2019.
  • Movies:  Top Oscars will go to:

Best movie:                       “Vice”

Best Actor:                        Christian Bale, “Vice.”

Best Actress:                     Lady Gaga, “A Star is Born”

Best Supporting actor:      Mahershala Ali, “Green Book”

Best Supporting Actress:  Amy Adams,  “Vice”

Best Director:                   Adam McKay, “Vice.”

  • Tiger Woods Will resume dominance over the Pro Golf circuit.

(As for my batting average from last year’s “Predictions)

  1. Bombed.  I predicted an attempt to assassinate President Trump
  2. Correct.  U.S. moved embassy in Israel to Jerusalem.
  3. ½ and ½. Some parts of border fence was erected, but not enough.
  4. Correct.  U.S. is getting tougher on Illegal immigration, plenty more to go
  5. Bombed.  I said the Mueller investigation will fizzle out.  Not yet.
  6. Unknown.  N. Korean Military plan will end tensions.  This may be happening now
  7. Correct.  ISIS defeated in Syria, though splinters exist elsewhere..
  8. Correct.  Economy very strong
  9. Correct.  One more Supreme Court judge will be seated (Kavanaugh)
  10. ½ and ½.  Best actor and actress Oscars went to Frances McDormand and Gary Oldman, as predicted. Other sport predictions bombed.

Stats:  5 Correct, 2 half correct, 2 bombed and 1 Unknown.

Marshall, some things are just too difficult to predict, with all the potential unknown variables. But if you were gambling, you would be ahead of the game, so you should feel good about your predictions.

I hope you are right about Pence stepping down.

Soccer has already emerged as a major sport – or didn’t you notice Atlanta United? On the other hand – it hasn’t really emerged as a major sport in central Florida… ;^)

According to a Gallup poll in 2017, soccer was the third-most played team sport in the U.S., behind only basketball and American football. The emergence of soccer (“futbol”) became obvious to me when my youngest daughter was playing it from age 8 in 1983 thru high school as captain of the girls team and on thru college.

You are always thought provoking and I admire your work here’s a different view on some of your predictions of my own.

Trump will resign as the various Congressional investigations as well as the S.C. report will support impeachment. More important to him will be the legal pressure resulting from shady business dealings, both foreign and domestic.

Trump will have major legal problems, with potential indictments of various children and additional close associates. Serious federal and state charges.

Pence will never step down. He’s much too close to being president within two years.

Nikki Haley will announce her run for president immediately after Trump resigns.

A major military incident will occur with either Iran or Russia

North Korean love affair will cease.

The senate will block any attempt to deal with either
    Health Care or Immigration.

Congress will pass something to deal with infrastruction, Senate will block it.

Michael Bloomberg will announce his run for presidency.

The two senators from South Carolina will be outed as homosexual.

Rudy Giuliani will quit or be fired.

Jeff Sessions will draft a tell all book.

This is fun, but I won’t wasre anymore of your time and space. Keep up your great work! Happy New Year!!

I like your list of predictions although I think we will get more of the wall than 50 or 60 miles before the can is kicked down the road again. I would also like to add that I predict more African Americans will leave the Democrat party, hold their noses and join with Republicans. I also think in-fighting in the Democrat party will take its toll on the party as a whole and hurt them in the 2020 elections. Finally, while this may be more of a wish than a prediction, I hope Pam Bondi, Florida AG, gets involved with the Trump Administration.

Thank you for sharing your predictions and have a happy new year.

    Marshall,
of the responses so far I think Jose’s are the most thoughtful – even if I take issue with some of his predictions. Trump won’t resign. Trump likely thinks Nixon was stupid to have done so, setting a bad precedent. Like him or not, we’ll have to put up with him until the next regular inauguration takes place. Pence doesn’t get an automatic anything. He’s got to work for the nomination, same as any other Republican (and I don’t doubt that there are plenty of Republicans out there who regard themselves as readier than Pence). The only real boner I charge you with is predicting Michelle Obama will run. Why bother? She’ got a mind of her own and won’t automatically provide Barack a “third term.” Serious Democrats won’t be satisfied with a wink and a nod, trust me.

Enjoyed your commentary / Truly hope your wrong on the topic of Michelle Obama taking office. The Idea is disturbing and nightmarish.

  11. Snake Hunters January 26, 2019 at 10:08 pm #

Snake Hunter replies to Mr. Fish:

Our Friend Marshall Frank didn’t predict Michelle Obama would win any office. The U.S.

Voters, regardless of party affiliation, would reject such an obvious ploy as a scam…and

re-elect President Trump by a huge margin.
