Sanctuary cities and states that are advocating for the protection of criminal illegal aliens from federal law enforcement, has nothing to do with compassion and/or pro-immigration viewpoints.  It’s all about power.

Not long ago, leading Democrats and Republicans shared concerns about “illegal” immigration while vowing to take measures to control the border and dispatch law enforcement to deal with “illegal” activities.

Many democrats of years passed have called for stricter measures against illegal immigration and much stronger border enforcement, even including expanding the wall along Mexico.

In his 1995 speech to congress, President Bill Clinton stated, “We are a nation of immigrants. But we are also a nation of laws. It is wrong and ultimately self-defeating for a nation of immigrants to permit the kind of abuse of our immigration laws we have seen in recent years, and we must do more to stop it.”

Sound familiar? President Clinton actually initiated an enforcement campaign against employers who knowingly hired illegal aliens for American jobs.

In 2010, President Obama made a speech, stating, “The presence of so many illegal immigrants makes a mockery of all those who are going through the process of immigrating legally. Indeed…the legal immigration system is as broken as the borders.”

In 1994, Senator Diane Feinstein, D-Ca) ran a political ad which she promised to get tougher on illegals with “more agents, fencing, lighting and other equipment.”

     What’s changed?

Anyone can access Google to find numerous examples how the tide has turned among prominent democrats, not only by backing away from enforcement policies, some actually support the worst immigration menace to America in which mayors and governors of states like California, Illinois and New York openly call for laws to be broken. Officials in “Sanctuary” cities and states thumb their noses at ICE, ATF and other federal agencies by protecting criminals and breaking their oaths of office including laws they swore to uphold.

Just last month, the mayor of Oakland, California sent out an alert to hundreds of illegal immigrants in the Bay Area warning them that ICE was about to embark on a series of law enforcement raids. The head of ICE estimated that 800 or more subjects avoided arrest.  Most targeted subjects have past criminal records.

We are seeing the rise of anarchy in America. Not only do some illegals break our criminal laws, they have allies within government who aid and abet crime by preventing federal law enforcement from doing their jobs.

How is that not an obstruction of justice?

Sure, there are good and decent people within the “illegal” community, but there are also too many drug dealers, smugglers, gang members, thieves, sexual predators and yes, murderers, all of whom are a threat to Americans. Authorities have enough problems dealing with a homegrown criminal population, we certainly don’t need to protect foreign criminals.

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel made it clear that Chicago will “always be a sanctuary city.” That sentiment, which has been echoed by too many, is a recipe for a slippery slope that will forever transform America from a nation of laws to a nation of lawlessness. In 2017, California’s lawmakers passed a bill (SB54) designed to protect undocumented immigrants by defying the federal government. If a government can endorse the breaking of laws, then all laws can eventually become meaningless.

The question is why? Why would governors like California’s Jerry Brown and mayors like Rahm Emanuel and so many others, embark on supporting lawlessness?  These representatives take oaths to defend the laws of our land.

There can only be one answer; the quest for political power. The democratic hierarchy discovered a winning tactic. When illegals from other countries are invited, supported, protected and even embraced, democrat voters will be spawned by the millions for future generations, swinging America into a one-sided power base forever. Add to that, birth rates and the long range impact of chain migration, it’s only a matter of time. Illegal aliens, criminal and non-criminal, will be forever grateful and indebted to those who protected them, ergo, voting democrat forever.

It has nothing to do with compassion. It’s simply a tactic to expand numbers, and with numbers, comes power.

It’s like farmers sowing seeds for the future. The best way to do that, is keep those borders open, keep the flow coming, protect illegal immigrants (criminal or not) and nurture the political plantation to produce lifelong loyalists.

This nullifies the taking of an oath when assuming a seat in the political spectrum. Any violation of oaths such as this is a clear warning that oaths are meaningless.

If government leaders can openly support the breaking of laws, what’s next?

I am so pleased to remember you as a retired Police Captain who ran the Homicide Section of the the Miami/Dade Police with distinction.

You continue to call our attention to the weakness and pure evil of so many in power in the Congress.

I can only hope that we all wake up in time.

The insanity of promoting illegal immigration to foster growth of democrat voters will contribute to the erosion of our legal system of justice and cost working Americans an unbelievable amount of money. Many, if not most, illegal immigrants immediately go on welfare. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, “more than half of households headed by immigrants in the country illegally, or 62 percent, received welfare benefits in 2012.” USA Today is even more specific: “More than half of the nation’s immigrants, legal as well as illegal, receive some kind of government welfare, a figure that’s far higher than the native-born population’s.” It further states that bout 51% of immigrant-led households, legal as well as illegal, receive at least one kind of welfare benefit, including Medicaid, food stamps, school lunches and housing assistance, compared to 30% for native-led households. For immigrant households with children the percentage jumps to 76 recent. We are simply courting disaster with our immigration policies, yet democrats are fighting President Trump at every turn to defeat his efforts to secure our southern border. It is simply insane!

Like a colony of ants..they will go under the wall , over the wall, and even around the wall to get to that food..for the illegal it’s more than that, it’s every thing from A to Z that the congress critters hand out , called welfare. But this welfare will keep the ants…on this farm and this farm only; because no other country is this generous . And let me put it bluntly, these invaders don’t even have to switch identity or show love for the farm , just keep your warm heart-id enablers in office. One last thing : You must indoctrinate the young ants as soon as possible.

Believe that there is hardly a reader out there who has not been exposed (while turning a blind eye) to the fact that they have been supporting illegal aliens e.g: those persons primarily involved in gardening services; restaurant services; the agricultural industry; the construction industry; and so many other services which American citizens no longer elect to participate in due to the incredibly low amount of remuneration paid for these jobs.

“U.S. law requires companies to employ only individuals who may legally work in the United States – either U.S. citizens, or foreign citizens who have the necessary authorization” . Those laws have been summarily ignored in the past by those who have elected to hire those not permitted to work here for considerable financial gain.

It’s time that we paid attention to those who do not comply with our laws

    and thereby encourage illegals.

  5. Christopher Jones April 10, 2018 at 6:47 am #

Perhaps the scariest part of your essay regarding illegals is the fact that the Democrats are knowingly promoting the entry of many criminals or freeloaders just to enlarge their base, without regard for the safety of the general public or economic disaster that they bring with them. All for a vote. Shameful.

You’re so right Marshall. Trump needs to find a way where he can hammer down on ILLEGALS some liberal Federal judge tieing his hands behind his back.

We live in a dangerous time. We have too much and think too little. We are subjected to a large minority that will soon be a majority that think being “considerate” is the answer to all questions and yet they will be the first to complain when their consideration has taken away their liberties.

As a nation, we are dangerously close to the death of our constitution, our freedom and ultimately our once wonderful country. We are following the course of every great nation that has existed and died.

” We are seeing the rise of anarchy in America. Not only do some illegals break our criminal laws, they have allies within government who aid and abet crime by preventing federal law enforcement from doing their jobs.” Yet “James Bond” with his “license to kill”, is a hero to most Americans. Look up the CIA’s history in Iran, Guatemala, and all those Central and South Americans countries who ended up with destroyed economies, and dead leaders, because of what really were illegal actions, weren’t they? How did Robert E. Lee make it all the way to Veracruz, Mexico, back when he was a young lieutenant, I think it was? Did his troops kill any innocent civilians? Ex-president Truman wrote an op-ed to the Washington Post a month after JFK’s assassination, warning that the CIA seemed to be like formulating our foreign policy-which would have been illegal, wouldn’t it? “All the poisons are coming out in the mud”, the Emperor Claudius wrote.
Look up “School of the Americas”, now under a new name. And Tuesday, September 11, 1973, in Chile. Please

Illegal immigrants have been a problem forever. Just ask Native American’s about the
criminals that stole their land , murdered them and broke every agreement white
Christians signed. Mexico would also like New Mexico, Az. Co. Ca. and Texas back . Maybe we need to put our military on the Southern border, many are stationed in Europe,Japan and elsewhere we pay to to visit, they are hardly defending America.

“Well sir, it’s a Republic… If we can keep it.”

In the 21st Century we have a different challenge, with mega-billionaires seeking to

radically change the greatest nation in world history… from an independent two-party,

Have you read our history sir? After Columbus discovered sugar would grow in the islands, the slave trade started up-Google how many were in VA by 1776, please!
Slavery created wealth for how many “Americans”, who had come from Europe and Great Britain? Have you never looked at the photos you paid NASA to take? NASA’s budget is way bigger than the Interior Dept! You do know the Commies rescued our astronauts in space after the Challenger disaster? And we lift off in their rockets, and share the Space station with all nationalities? Why are you so fearful, when The Good Shepherd walks with you thru the Valley of Death, even? Ms Frigo – You mention “spanish horses”… and our “little rockets”… But Have You

Ever Studied Ancient History… or the Law?

I suggest that you turn back the pages of time to the beginnings of the Hammurabi

A time long ago… where King Hammurabi found it necessary to develop ‘rules

governing conduct’ of an ancient culture… something called “written Law”….

Where (a) Property Rights (b) Water Rights and (c) Civil Rights… such as ‘how the

slave-owner must treat his slaves… or Law Enforcement, where the law-breakers

must suffer the consequences…. of “breaking these laws”.

It might be worth your ‘value time’…. to study Ancient Law…. plus the Evolution of

Laws from King Hammurabi, to the Hebrews ‘Ten Commandments’… to the Roman

Codification of Laws… then on to the English Common Law, from whence came much

of our U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights… with a noble tip-of-the-hat… to our own

The Monticello website has a “wanted” notice Thomas Jefferson wrote himself, about an escaped slave, skilled in repairing footwear, light skinned, and I think it described this slave as sneaky. Of course, TJ would be like at the cash register, collecting the money for himself. His “Farm Book”, is also on the web, listing his slaves by first name only, except for those with a last name of Hemmings. TJ kept track of how much each slave earned working on other people’s farms; but again, TJ got their earnings. “A Slave in the White House” is about James Madison’s slave, who wrote the first White House Diary. Dolly sold that slave’s wife and children to a plantation owner in another state, after James’ death. He borrowed from Henry Clay to buy his own freedom, and worked to earn money to buy his wife and children back,. Dolly ended up somewhat short of funds, and Henry Clay would often send this former slave (who now worked for him, for a salary), with food for Dolly. Slavery created GREAT wealth in America. It could very well have continued, because, as one SC leader said, negro slaves are our wealth, our natural resources in this state that is mostly swamp. Almost a million slaves were sent from the “old” south, to slave markets in Natchez and New Orleans, after all the native peoples were forcibly “relocated” from the eastern U.S. children were often sold separately from their parent(s), brothels could be set up inexpensively, etc. I can’t find where TJ actually served in the War. Madison either. At least GW risked his life, and Mount Vernon’s website showed how he agonized, trying to figure out which slaves were his, and which were Martha’s, so he could free his upon his death. She, like many slaveowners, were terrified their slaves would turn on them and kill them. That is why there seems to have been an unwritten law that ANY slave trying to escape, would get 50 lashes.

Madam Frigo..You failed to mention that….

Our first five presidents were all born into a culture that permitted human bondage…

That aggressive black merchants OFTEN SOLD BLACK SLAVES to developing

nations…. Black Slave-Traders… delivered their human cargo on Black Slave Ships…

Also, that Jefferson and Madison were two of our greatest legal minds that gave us the

U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights … the great words… that Abe Lincoln used in

his Emancipation Proclamation. IMAGINE IT: FREEDOM FOR THE SLAVES!

I believe in God as the Creator of this entire incredible planet. What would He think of those who keep insisting “America is the Greatest”, “we are Exceptional”, etc.? Barack Obama had apparently read the preamble to the Constitution, which I believe is like a mission statement of the Founding Fathers. There were no political parties back then; George Washington deplored them! He found out that Thomas Jefferson was behind the many editorial attacks on him in the countless newspapers that flourished after a NATIONAL Postal system was set up that linked everyone. Even then, the “Media” had to make a profit, and conflct sells. I am not blaming anyone. But the tremendous contribution the selling of “excess” human resources, and the “free” land handed out, should be acknowledged. “Truth and Reconciliation” makes sense to me.
