Those of us who supported anyone-but-Obama know how we all feel. I still love America, no matter who is in office. No congressman or president can ever erase the foundations this nation was built upon and the richness of its history and contributions to mankind.

We can’t be angry at Barack Obama. He accomplished his mission. He did what he does best. Give credit where it’s due, his campaign forces were genius in luring the most lucrative voting blocs for gaining power. Amazingly, the bloc for whom he has done the least still gave him 93 percent of their vote: Blacks. Obama’s team knew they were a lock. So, they directed attention elsewhere; Women, Gays, Hispanics, welfarians, demonizing the rich, Christians. Clever.

But I am disappointed in people. Any other past president with a record of fiscal failures, downgrades in credit ratings, economic morass, rampant unemployment, federalizing private enterprise, selling guns to Mexican criminals resulting in many deaths including one of our own, and failing to protect our embassies in the most dangerous places on earth, would have been cast from office by overwhelming numbers. Anyone, but Barack Obama.

If I isolated one major component to give credit for the Obama victory: The media. Just as in 2008, he could not have won without media protections. Though Mitt Romney was scandal free, smart, and had many messages, the mainstream media prevailed. He could not overcome that.

Obama had a free campaign team consisting of: MSNBC, NBC, CBS, ABC and CNN. Add to that, the likes of the New York Times and Washington Post. People cannot judge by what they don’t know. No greater example, than the blind eye and skewed journalistic priorities given to the Benghazi situation. Even moderator Candy Crawley, of CNN, came to Obama’s rescue during a debate, in which – as it turns out – she was in error.

In 1973, if Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, under the graces of the Washington Post, had not kept the Nixon scandal blasting daily in the media limelight, Nixon would probably have served out his second term and Watergate would never have become anything more than a blip in the annals of White House embarrassments. But the burglary and follow-up of Nixon’s lies got as much attention as did the Kennedy assassination. We were overfed news constantly, blow by blow, in print, radio and television. We all were manipulated into hating Richard Nixon. We forgot about any good that came from his presidency, or his post-presidential books. Nixon will be scorned for all time, an ogre, a crook. Americans think of Nixon like they think of Rasputin: Cunning. Evil. This is the result of information saturation.

No White House scandal came close to the exposure of Watergate before or since. Not even Monica. Clinton lied to Americans directly into the news cameras, shaking his finger, yet in today’s world, the media treats Clinton as God-like. Bald-faced lying is okay, if you’re Clinton.

Now comes the Benghazi fiasco which brought four murdered American patriots to their graves. It all reeks of set-up, reeks of incompetence, reeks of ignorance, reeks of political motivations, reeks of lies at the highest levels of the administration. Another twenty or thirty may have been killed had it not been for the heroics of two Navy SEALS who lost their lives saving others. All this, under the watchful eye of top Obama administration officials – as it was happening. The same officials even ordered fight-ready General and Admiral to stand down and be replaced, for trying to act and save lives. That’s what American soldiers are supposed to do. Not now.

All this may never have happened had the embassy pleas for increased security not only been ignored, but were downsized over the objections of experts on site, in the know. Following all this, administration minions in the personage of the Secretary of State, the UN ambassador, the Secretary of Defense, the White House Press Secretary, and the president himself, all misled and/or lied – repeatedly —  for three weeks following the attacks to present a public image that they all knew were untrue when they were telling it.

It stinks to high heaven. Their actions were abominable. They lied. Americans died. It is far worse than Watergate. Yet, they slide. Obama was rewarded, not censured.

By chance, it all reared its ugly head only seven weeks before an election in which every mainstream media outlet on television, minus Fox, were still fawning over Barack Obama like they fawned over him in 2008. Any saturated attention to the on-going Benghazi scandal would have scuttled a second term for Barack Obama, and they knew it. That – was more important than reporting the truth. So, instead of reporting untruths, the next best thing is to under-report or non-report. After all, people can’t know information for which they’re not informed. Benghazi quickly round its way off the front pages and the headline stories on television.

Where is the FCC in this? Where is the outrage from the American people? Why don’t Americans care about this?

Sure, Obama may still have been elected despite the scandal, but at least the media could not be accused of complicity in skewing information in overt support of a candidate. In all my years of following political campaigns, I have never seen such boldness in distorting and/or failures in reporting information. This goes beyond slant. It’s being a part of a campaign team. It violates everything that journalism stands for.

(Please don’t tell me about Fox. They’re a single island out there in media ocean. Thank goodness for one outlet with an opposing message)

I hope the families of Americans killed in Benghazi sue every official who is complicit in perpetuating this tragedy, whether by ignorance, incompetence or intentional. And I hope they win. And, if they were complicit, I hope they go to jail.

I hope congress conducts a full investigation which results in consequences for each concerned, beyond a mere censure.

Follow the Muslim Brotherhood, my friends. While we follow the shell game, looking everywhere but the right places, they are succeeding in every goal they’ve set, right under our very noses. They said they would destroy America, from within.

Mitt Romney is an honorable man. Perhaps too honorable. Hindsight tells me he should have seized the opportunity. Instead, he chose to downplay Benghazi as a political issue and continue hammering the economy. But ater two years, that was an old tune no one listened to any more.  Can’t unring the bell.

 I couldn't be more proud

What a joke… why don’t you Republicans stop crying and looking for excuses and get down to the business of joining together with moderate Americans to do what we can to find some compromises in our different opinions and fix at least some of our immediate issues? Stop encouraging the divide and start looking for the common ground…why dont you write a piece that asks people to use their common sense and begin to act like we are in this together..we are at war with militant Muslims, if we keep up this stupid infighting we will lose the war. Why don’t you just start asking your Republican Representatives to work with the other side to fix the economy as best we can with our differing points of view and have both sides focus on keeping us safe from the real enemies of America?

    • Jack E November 14, 2012 at 4:29 pm #

It seems to me that the answer is to stop fighting and start compromising…some movement forward that congress can agree on is better than no movement. The close election proved that the country is split which screams for the need to compromise…i do not see the benefit in looking for conspiracies now just as it benefited no one in 200 and 2004…

    • Christopher Jones November 14, 2012 at 6:03 pm #

Compromise? So, you really think socialists and capitalists can find compromise? What is moderate about socialists?

BUT…I agree that the Repubs should back off and allow o-b his tax increases, which according to the latest news at 1PM today, are now 1.5 trillion. The Dems must take full ownership of that tax increase. And if I was a Repub in the house or senate, I would vote present when that tax increase comes up…

And lets just kick back and see what happens to the economy when that goes into effect.

Dream on if you think that will kick start our economy. What a joke.

    Mr. Jones,

I had hoped to ride into the sunset of this particular set of comments, but when you suggested, albeit facetiously, I hope, that the country split into two nations: the capitalist red states and the socialist blue ones, I am compelled to point out a few facts to you:

On an income per capita basis, 8 of the top 10 are blue; 9 of the bottom 10 are red.

Of states with populations with persons who have bachelors degrees and more, 10 of the top 10 are blue and 9 of the bottom 10 are red.

For number of people living below the poverty line, 9 of the top 10 were red states; 7 of the bottom 10 were blue states.

These figures were from 2008, the latest I could find. You sure you want to live in the country of red states?

    • Christopher Jones November 14, 2012 at 10:40 pm #

      T S –

As the blue states seem to want to keep the very poor – very poor, (what is it now, three or four generations since we started the WAR on poverty?) and they have succeeded in that swimmingly – they have managed due to their stupid regulations against exploration for energy – prohibit growth in the red state sector. We have clean air and water, and blue states … well they have rediculous taxes. The cost of living in the blue states is exponentially higher than of the red states. One can actually LIVE comfortably on less than 50K a year in most red states. I think that qualifies one for welfare in a blue state city. I know taxes in NY State – even in the upstate of NY are 5 to 8 times higher than in SC. NJ is worse. California is worse. Michegan…omg, is worse. And the poverty rate in those states keeps growing, especially since o-b was immaculated in 2008. Or has he cooked those books, like he cooked the unemployment rate? What a buffoon.

Like all socialists and therefore liars, you homogonize the country on “poverty rates”…etc. As me old college prof said…figures dont’ lie, but liars can figure.

As for your statistics in education…do the blue states have a higher percentage of people with bachelors, or just a higher amount? How many of those who reside in the blue states went there for a job? How is that working out for them today under the socialist republic of obamaland? And how about that Jerry Brown in Caulefornea…OMG…he is going to raise taxes in the state, when o-b also raises them in the nation. Watch for the wealthy to move out of Ca. in droves…even the left wing zealots…because they talk the talk, but will never walk the walk. And you know that is true. Hate it for you…

Finally, there is no question as to which country I would rather live in. I choose the country where I know and get along with my neighbors, rather than the blue cities where you don’t give a damn about your neighbors, and rarely if ever does anyone help out their neighbor. I choose to live in an area where I have a bit of space and fresh air to breathe. I can even go over to the Broad River and harvest oysters and blue crabs, and dig for clams, and eat them without fear of eating poison. Try that in NY harbor. Your blue cities have smog, congestion, and are havens for people to move to that haven’t even entered the country legally. They are supported by all of us, and that is another reason to have a red country.

No, Tony, you can have your blue country. Enjoy it, tax the crap out of it, and when the red country has the growth after obama gets his foot off our neck, cry foul or whatever you want to do. The south once very mistakenly revolted by opening fire on Ft. Sumpter. Now, the north would roll over and play dead. They have no more spine, no more fortitude. The lights are on up north, but there ain’t no one home One time, men that employed my ancestors in NY like Carnegie, Vanderbilt, Edison and Rockefeller created massive industry that made our country a world power. Oh, they got terribly greedy, and all were brought down a few pegs…but they did it on sheer will. They created. Obama is tearing down, dumbing down, and pushing “green energy” that does not work. One day, perhaps it will, but the government cannot force it to happen…though they are trying.
Our entrepeneurial spirit is almost dead.

And, people died, and Obama lied.
Time for a glass of RED wine.

  6. Jack E November 15, 2012 at 8:14 pm #

As we who want to work to create a better union do what every generation has done before…compromise, move to the middle and get things done…those who choose to stay on their right or left wing fringe and yell at the other side get to benefit from the sanity of the compromisers. You will never get a country that provides no safety net and you will never get a country that provides only a safety net…we will always live somewhere in between….your only choice is whether you want to be part of the solution or part of the problem… continuing the idiotic Red/Blue pigeon holing that the media started is being part of the problem…Why don’t you all try the grown-up choice?

The person who should turn on the mute button is you. If you think the party of FDR, Harry Truman, and Jack Kennedy is dead, visit the funeral home and view the party of Lincoln, Theodore Roosevelt, Richard Nixon, Nelson Rockefeller, Mark Hatfield, John and Lincoln Chaffee, Olympia Snowe, and yes, Ronald Reagan.

If you want to comment on anything, do us and yourself a favor by learning to think critically and reading history. For the past four years, most of what you have published has been invective, false, or both.

As Jack E notes, if you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem.

For once in your life, why don’t you analyze how our economy works. For one thing, the U.S. does not need to and cannot achieve energy independence. On the other hand, North America can achieve energy security, which would render the economies of the U.S., Canada, and Mexico less susceptible to volatility when someone in the Middle East sneezes.

But as I have noted, your basic problem is that you cannot countenance people with whom you disagree. You feel compelled to demonize them. Jack E isn’t an idiot, or a coward, or a cats paw. He has a much better grasp on how to move forward than you have demonstrated since August 2008.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving and be grateful than you do live in the America for you voted.

    Tony Sokolow

  10. Christopher Jones November 21, 2012 at 3:06 pm #

Ralph. Can you imagine that anyone in their right mind would make the following statement:

“For one thing, the U.S. does not need to and cannot achieve energy independence”. Well, of course, under the anti-business regime of der fuhrer, we don’t need cheap and plentiful energy. What the hell are we going to build or invent? Oh…maybe those wonderful solar panels…let’s pump more taxpayer money that we borrow from China into stupid and doomed-to-fail projects.

Where does one come up with lunacy like this? Also, the following:

The inclusion of Jack Kennedy in the same breath as FDR. Kennedy, in todays arena, would be considered more conservative than Romney. (Kennedy reduced taxes to make the economy grow, and it did. He also started our involvement in Viet Nam, to fight communism. This would not be exactly what you call a liberal or socialist move.) As for Rockefeller and Teddy Roosevelt and most of the others who were
“progressives” (read socialists), the only thing they had in common with Reagan was a party label. I thought you said Sokolow was intelligent. Rubbish. Gibberish.

The truth is that the conservative movement is no more dead than the socialist movement was after 1992 and 2000. Not when the country is divided in half, politically speaking. The socialists can brag about their victory, and enjoy their moment. Tick tock.

The country is going to get what it voted for. We will be continuing an economic slide, where rich lawyers and others get richer, and poor people get poorer. The REAL unemployment rate will continue to escalate. The regime in charge will say the unemployment rate flirts around 8%, when the real rate is now 12 – 14% and it will go up, as people just quit looking for work. Amazingly, since the election, first time unemployment claims went to an 18 month high…471,000 last week, and 410,000 this week. Oh…the socialist media says it is because of Sandy. That is a hoot. During the storm, they said the storm was going to ASSIST in the growth of the economy with all the construction jobs it would create. Ha ha ha. But, being the controlled media we have, no one will publically call them on it…they just spin the truth like a spider spins its web. We are inventing nothing, producing less and less, and encouraging the government to be our “daddy”. Self reliance is to be frowned upon, and yet the true heros in NY and NJ are the people who helped each other out after the hurricane. Neither FEMA, or either state government could do the job…and they failed miserably. I have spoken to many who live in the epicenter, and it was the goodness of the people that got most of the folks through the mess. Government cannot be the answer, and yet we just elected a regime of corrupt, crooked socialists who will continue to do what they want with money they don’t have, signing checks on accounts that are grossly overdrawn, with an IOU in the basket that will have to be paid back by my grand kids. Thanks Barry. Nice job. But once again, we are getting what we deserve. After all, a scant majority voted for this slug. Even a bunch of dead people. Hey, even in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where OVER 100% of the voters, voted. And in many of the precincts, Obama got every vote. EVERY VOTE. Statistically, is this possible? What a hoot.

For the people of the US, we need to live on less, unless we are scum sucking lawyers who make scads of money on the misery of the people, or we are politicians who live on what they can scam from the people. The poor, as I said before, will become poorer, and the wealthy will invest their money somewhere else, since the socialists want to tax the crap out of them. The wealthy will not suffer in the nexf four years, no matter what anyone says is FAIR. If we can survive the next four years without dipping into a depression, I will be amazed. There will be no economic boom. And to be honest, I am very hopeful that the Republicans DO get out of the way, and let the socialists have their way with taxes. The socialists need to take FULL responsibility for what they are about to do, also. They need to take full ownership of their ideas. They will then get the credit, or the blame.

Years ago, Chrysler cars came up with what is called “limp mode”, if there was an electronic malfunction in their car’s engines and/or transmissions. We are now in limp mode.

I completely understand the intelligent reference. Look at Ted Bundy. He and many like him were extemely intelligent. The intelligent person lies, spins, twists and expects (like o-b) that his lies will be taken as truths, if he tells them enough.

And if anyone out there thinks for one moment that o-b would appoint an INDEPENDANT thinker to “investigate” Benghazi, I have a bridge to sell them in NY, and they can keep alllllllllllllll the money they collect.

PEOPLE DIED, OBAMA LIED. It doesn’t get more basic than that.

On this Thanksgiving Day, while getting the turkey ready for the oven, I was wondering what I was thankful for this year. The first thing that popped into my head was that the narcissistic, miscreant of a liar-in- chief cannot run again. Gotta look at the good side, I guess.

I took a few days off and then read what everyone had written. I wondered to myself, “did these people read what they had written? Do they really believe this?”

Well obviously the two of you wrote it and obviously you do believe it. But let’s examine just a few of the thoughts you expressed.

CJ.: “The socialist media.” Really? From most of what you have written, it is all a conspiracy and the only people with the truth are you.

One more thing, do you think that there are a whole lot of people who are going to get jobs or work more to repair the damage caused by Sandy? If you think not, I will listen to what you have to say on this issue inasmuch as it is counter intuitive.

One more thing. Your logic needs work. Ted Bundy was intelligent. Ted Bundy was a monster. All intelligent people are monsters. Except you and everyone who agrees w/ you.

Well Reb. I will content myself w/ pointing out the facts when you misstate them. There is no point in trying to teach you to think critically.

    • Christopher Jones November 27, 2012 at 5:06 pm #

The media is so left leaning, it may beyond being just socialist. BUT according to you, socialism is a lie, and the media is complicit in the lie. Interesting logic, I simply said the media was essentially socialistic, but did not call them liars.

As for jobs created by the great storm…just wondering…for whatever job that is created, how many of these will be full time PERMANENT jobs? The idea that the storm will “spur on” the economy is a rather pie in the sky promise, is it not? Storms do not grow an economy, a rather childish notion prepetuated by the uber left wing media.

Your logic needs work. YOU drew the conclusion that all intelligent people are monsters. Typical leftist lunacy. Try again.

  15. Tony Sokolow December 6, 2012 at 9:13 pm #

I remember a joke form a book that I read in grade school. The teacher said, “Remember class, a job well done never needs doing again.” In response, a voice from the back of the room said, “What about cutting grass?”

All roads need resurfacing eventually. Bridges need repainting. Given the amount of destruction Sandy caused in 14 states, people in the construction trades who have been idle, will have work.

I am no economist but given the enormity of required repairs and rebuilding, I would expect some growth b/c all of these people will themselves require services and goods, much of which may have been deferred.

I do agree with those who hold that our economy is never going to look as it did in the few years leading up to the the 20008 crash, but that is not to say it may not be almost as robust. The fact that it will not look the same is a plus.

As for the logic example, like Ralph, do you also lack a sense of irony?

If you take the position that the media, or what you deem the “mainstream media” is socialist or left leaning, you state much more about your own world view than you do about the media. For aficionados of Fox News, I can only cite my younger daughter who sated it should only be watched ironically.

You might read this article . It is 18 months old but the facts, the history, and the premise remain valid: http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/how-roger-ailes-built-the-fox-news-fear-factory-2011052

One comment relating to a prior one you made. “People died. Obama lied.” Of course your facts are off, but your comment reminded me of many bumper stickers I read after President Bush’s ill considered invasion. “Bush lied. People died.”

Of course there was cause and effect in the latter. Regrettably, 4 talented people died in Benghazi. Nearly 4,500 Americans died in Iraq. Almost 32,000 were wounded. Iraqi deaths, most inflicted buy fellow Iraqis are more difficult to estimate but 150,000 is a recurring figure.

I think that if you had a sense of irony, you might not have made that comment.

    • chris December 7, 2012 at 12:30 am #

Tony..People Died, Obama Lied. There is no irony. The statement is nothing but fact. The truth is hard to take BTW, the commentary is a direct result of the crap spewed by the socialist media regarding Bush, and the resulting bumper stickers of the uber left. You did get that. Glad you did.

As for the media, if you are socialist, you will not think that the media is biased. You think they are middle of the road. But, socialism is what it is. If that is your preference, stand up and be proud of it.

My granddaughters also have their opinion about CNN (communist news network) NBC, (national blowhard corp), and PMSNBC, which needs no further comment. Your daughter has her opinion, my grandkids have theirs.

If you think we should have a second rate economy, and be less productive, have less growth, and become a third world country, shame on you. We could easily grow rapidly, and rise once again to the stature of a great nation. The fact that we have a lame leader, who is only interested in punishing the wealthy for their achievement…UNLESS THEY ARE OBAMA’S CLOSE PERSONAL FRIENDS…speaks volumes for the twisted mindset he has. As for you and the other 20% of you true believers…it is not close to 50%…well, you go ahead and continue to think that way. Maybe you ought to form your own country…the Enlightened States of America. We red staters will gladly give you some land in New England…as a matter of fact, take all of New England, and we’ll glady give you California, Oregon and Washington…and set up your little utopia. We will take the coal fields, the oil fields, we will drill off shore, we will drill in the Gulf of Mexico, and we WILL finish the pipeline from Baakan…and you get Mario Cuomo’s little boy, Moonbeam Brown, Elizabeth Warren, Hollywood, HilLIARy and Billy Bob Clinton, Dusty Harry Reid, and most of all, Nancy Pelousy…one of the most disgusting people in our country. We would be happy to let you have all this, and govern yourselves. We will be happy to see you go. BUT, take your debt with you, because we don’t want to pass it on to our grandkids.

Socialism never built a damn thing. Well, it did build the third Reich. Wow, what an achievement. Socialism never made anything FAIR. Socialism and Nazism go hand in hand…one becomes a dictatorship sooner or later, whether in Germany or Argentina. And the systems implode.

Please. Go. BTW, we won’t loan you any money. You guys print your own, and enjoy. We will never ever be able to meet in the middle with you socialists. There is no common ground. Better we split up, before the blood flows. Because if you force our hands, it will happen.

Chris Jay – You will notice that the Left-wing Loonies never seems to tire in their effort to bum-rap Bush #41 and Bush #43 for confronting the “Butcher of Bagdad” and they conveniently forget Saddam’s-Poison-Gas-Murder of Kurds in Northern Irag – or of Saddam’s Superior Tank Divisions rolling into tiny Kuwait, then burning 300 Kuwait Oil Wells as his superior forces began their retreat as our U.S. General Stormin’ Norman Schartzkoff sent them back north on the ‘Highway of Death’…

Or, the Bubba Clinton Failure (in 2,000) to Confront Islam’s Bombers of the USS Cole,
that murdered 17 U.S. Sailors. No war, so “Weak-Willie” left office with a surplus.

Or President George W. Bush reason for maintaining a Presence in Iraq, or for going after Osama bin Laden into Afganistan… after 3,000 innocent folks DIED on 9/11/01.

Yes. Everyone Knows That Wars Are Expensive… And Not Confronting Holy Jihad, Can Be Even More Costly… If you listen to the Babbling of the Left-Wing Loonies*.
