THE KORAN CRISIS: MAKING A POINT

In 2007, Muslims in Gaza went on a rampage against Christians destroying crosses and burning Bibles. There are 2.2 billion Christians in the world. Those who knew about it were certainly offended. Yet, the world of Christianity did not whoop and holler like screaming jungle monkeys threatening to riot and kill innocent people.

Approximately 10,000 Christians were killed by Muslims in Indonesia — that “moderate” Islamic country — between 1998 and 2003, and about 1,000 churches were burned down — including their Bibles — all for no other reason but that they were Christian. It barely made the newspapers. Christians were appalled. Yet, the world was not held hostage by threats of violence against Muslims.

In 1987, an eccentric artist of questionable character dunked a crucifix complete with the image of Christ, into a jar of urine and took a picture for all to see and admire. Christians everywhere were aghast. I don’t remember that artist being subjected to pleas by national leaders to refrain, because Christians would erupt into violence.

In 2006, an Italian nun in Somalia was shot in the back numerous times by an Islamic gunman, along with her bodyguard (why a bodyguard?) and another person. All for being an active Christian.

In 2005, artists in Denmark created cartoon pictures depicting the prophet Muhammed. Not smart, perhaps. Not respectful, perhaps. But, artistic? Yes. Did the publication have a right of free speech and expression? Yes. Meanwhile, Muslims broke out in riots all over the world, killing Christians in Nigeria and burning flags, desecrating embassies. A Pakistani put out a $10,000 reward for anyone who will kill one of the artists. The entire world of Islam went into an uproar scaring the heck out of non-Muslims globally and threatening any governments who did not denounce. It was an international crisis. Check the time line:

In 2004, Dutchman Theo Van Gogh produced an eleven minute documentary movie, “Submission,” depicting the lives of women in strict Islamic countries. He was murdered in retribution by an Islamic gunman in the streets of Amsterdam, shot multiple times and then stabbed and partially decapitated. The screenplay was written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali-born apostate who had to go into hiding after receiving death threats.

In 2002, Islamic terrorists holed up in Bethlehem’s Church of Nativity reportedly used the bible for toilet paper. Hello?

By now you get the point.

Then comes Pastor Terry Jones. In the week prior to the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attack on America, the eccentric preacher of questionable mentality announced that he was going to burn copies of the Koran on his property. Most anyone with a civil mind thought that was a very dumb idea.

What happened in the wake of Pastor Jones’ announcement was a calamity of humongous proportions. One would think that the Pope was about to be raped, or that Iran had announced the delivery of an atom bomb on Israel. It set off a firestorm of fear and intimidation.

The media went frenzy. Muslims throughout the world, and in the United States warned of the violence and insurgency that would follow, not only in Afghanistan, but virtually everywhere, all because Muslims would be offended. Politicians, clergy leaders and citizens in general begged and pleaded with this insignificant figure who led a small church of less than fifty congregants in Gainsville, Florida. The State Department put out a travel alert warning to American citizens abroad.

All because, the world is scared to death of the religion of peace. All because, the world is held hostage to the religion of peace. All because freedom of speech and expression is forbidden — defacto — to express displeasure or to criticize the religion of peace.

If the religion of peace were truly peaceful, they would have laughed at Preacher Jones and dismissed him as the radical nutball that he is. They would have briefly stated their objections, then turned their attentions to more important matters and ignored him. They would not have made it a colossal media event. By doing so, they would have shown us all — the world of non-Muslims — that Islam, in fact, really is a religion of peace.

But they failed.

And Preacher Jones, the nutball from Gainsville, after cancelling the event, said on NBC’s Today Show, “I accomplished the mission.”

Maybe the preacher wasn’t such a nutball after all.

Well, it’s kinda’ like Democrats and Republicans and or Leftists or Rightists or Liberals or Conservatives. One side must live by certain rules and the other doesn’t. Now, that isn’t too hard to fathom is it?

  2. Steve Gure September 12, 2010 at 9:33 am #

Allow me to add that in addition to all your examples, the peaceful Islamic people continuously clamor for the death of all infidels. Our inept politicians consistently ignore or rationalize these threats. The media ignores them and it just goes on and on.
Although it is hard to justify the burning of and holy books, unless we stand up against those that are trying to destroy us, we will deserve everything that is coming our way. It will not be pretty.

  3. Larry , NYPD Retired September 12, 2010 at 9:37 am #

The Reverened might be a nut, however his point was brought across loud and clear. Just the mere threat of burning the koran showed islam’s true colors. As another depressing September 11th has gone and past, I wonder how many more have to die before we declare total war against these intollerant animals.

Mr. Jones was able to prove beyond any reasonable doubt that the worlds political, judicial and military leaders is terrified of these fanatical people. To have caused such a firestorm as Jones was able to do, commanding personal calls from such high ranking people such as the Secretary of Defense and pleas to him by almost every political official in the free world, including the POPE, begging him to not “upset” the Islamic Radicals should waken everyone to the real danger our leaders actually perceive these people to be….obviously more than they open admit based on this display. Yet, our Administration and political machine is willing to allow Muslims to walk freely in the streets of the USA and cater to their desires. Why would our leaders succumb to the threats of these Islamic terrorists if they did not feel that the threats were actual and that they were capable of carrying them out. I feel the fear among our leadership is that they are fully aware of how extensive, entrenched and capable to cause sever damage on American soil is that if they could not stop Jones they feared for their careers by having to explain why they have not contained them if they struck. Maybe Jones should have moved forward and lit the firestorm, then the public could have witnessed first-hand just how dangerous these people really are as they rained hell upon the American public in the streets and forced our government to deal with them as they should be doing anyway. I really think the American military around the world could have taken care of themselves, they live under this threat constantly and if the American political machine would get out of their face, then they could probably end this mess fairly quickly.
If this did not awaken the American public to just how dangerous these people are perceived to be by our Administration and others throughout the world who want to handle them with kid-gloves, then there will never be a way to wake up the general public.

Even though I hate the Koran and all it represents, I ask myself, Is it worth it to burn it? What would that prove? I’m not really sure if it would make any sense or win grounds in our battle against international terrorism.
It kinda reminds me of the Nazis in Skokie at the end of the 70’s. After years of court battles, division amongst the Jews, loss of income for the ACLU as well as popularity among Jewish groups, and the worst part, a marked increase in membership in Nazi organizations from all the publicity, only 6 idiots marched in Skokie. Was it worth it when one compares the results with the issue? Maybe not, but it had to be done.
I think Pastor Jones was just looking for publicity, a dangerous one for him, and he got it.
Maybe now we can move on and find a way to defeat the enemy, quickly and swiftly. If you cut the snake’s head it’s over. If you just chop the tail, the animal continues to grow.

This is just what I was trying to tell you the other day. Only you say it better.
Nobody blinks an eyelid when all those atrocities are committed by the fanatic Muslims and also ordinary people get affected and will follow like sheep.
Flag – Bible – burning – killing of Jews, Christians and other non Muslims done by every day Muslimes are NOT an exception.
It is NOT enough to say: “It is not the Muslims in general; it is only the fanatics. Is that really the case?
I say NO. Look at Hitler. We said: ‘Not all Germans are Nazis”. Yet.. What happened… maybe not all, but most Germans were sucked into this horrible part of our history.
Please to all of you: “WAKE UP”, If not who will help us?
Although our Floridian preacher made an unwise statement, he al least understood what the Islam threat meant. Even if it was only because his religious beliefs.
The explosive reaction to his plans were immediate and everywhere, what about all these REAL atrocities by the Muslims?
Think about it and understand and be ready!

One side plays by one set of rules and the other plays by another?

How can you equate mass murder with playing by a “set of rules?” What kind of game is being played?

Muslims have no rules. The rules set down in their Koran are so fluid their leaders can make them fit any set of circumstances and do whatever they wish, especially when it comes to killing. They seem to love death, even their own.

It’s kind of like Obama explaining his policies before they were passed by the thugs in congress and now. Consistency is a word neither the Muslims nor Obama seem to understand, but I repeat myself.

Building the Cordoba Mosque inside the debris field marks the first step in the conquest of the U.S. by Islam. That is how the “Arab Street” sees it.

To Muslims, interfering with construction of a mosque is an insult and requires a jihad. The “Peaceful Imam” warned us about this, so we should now fall down in fear and allow, if not fund, the Cordoba Mosque to avoid a jihad.

I have had enough of Muslim sensitivities.
It’s time for Muslims to start worrying about American sensitivities.

  14. Mike R. Cole September 12, 2010 at 11:57 am #

We need to use caution when assuming that everything associated with the Muslim religion if automatically threatening and violent. Like the Christian religion there are many interpretations and differences of opinion as to it’s meaning. To be objective on the subject we need to back up our assumptions with fact, written confirmation from religion scholars and references. From what I have read the violent Islamic views are based on inaccurate and twisted versions of the Quran.

Political correctness comes in many different shapes and colors. From my humble perspective any and all political correctness is culturally and economically destructive. PC can be “Good Old Boys” “Good Old Girls”, Affirmative Action”, “Ring Knockers” and nepotism. Over the past thirty year years all of us have been conditioned to either look away or unconsciously accept substandard performance or double standards for fear of being labeled sexist, raciest, anti-catholic-Muslim-Jewish, etc. or anti establishment. To exacerbate this situation we are significantly influenced by border lined functional illiterate Hollywood elite, radically socialistic politicians, unemployed and news casters. As a society political correctness is deeply entrenched and unless everyone acknowledge the errors of PC in ALL situations it cannot not be reversed.

Ditto! At this rate we will be bearing arms or we will be swept away by Islam. We only have three choices – convert them, convert us, or die. They’ve already determined to take America and the world. What part of this are people not getting Marshall? The Koran is a book that uses abrogation…meaning they can change their scripture at will! Lying is also one of their scripture. So, their word means nothing. There’s no integrity. A devote Muslim, a purist is one who terrorizes anyone who is not a Muslim. It is a commandment. Therefore if these (Sharia Law) are their tenants it is against all we stand for and our Constitution. It is an enemy. AND they make no bones about it. If the root is bad the fruit is bad. Unfortunately many Muslims who do not fully practice their beliefs are still part of this ‘system’. When called upon by their leaders, they WILL have to obey or suffer consequences.

It is the conflicts of this age. The ignorant always feel that to win you must frighten people into submission. This is typical behavior of the bully. More often than not, the bully is a little slower than the others that surround him/her and to make for that they become beligerant without thought and act accordingly.

These people are ignorant. No dumb. They are not educated in any way; most can neither read nor write, consequently they act in accordance with whomever it is they agree with verbally.

Unfortunately there may not be enough time to educate these people. They will not understand anything but violence.

In the book What You Need To Know About Islam and Muslims I found this “The Quran urges those to fight for the cause of Allah and kill pagans wherever they are found. Whenever believers meet unbelievers, Muslims are encouraged to smite their neck and to fight those who believe not in Allah and the last day.” Quran 2:244; 47:4; 9-5; 9:29.

How can you fight something so embedded in religious belief?

  21. Thomas Ault September 12, 2010 at 2:19 pm #

I made a mistake in typing. I did not mean these people are dumb, I meant they are NOT dumb. They are not educated, i.e. ignorant of anything that is not told them since they neither read nor write.

I could not agree with you more. Although my book, The Other Half of My Soul, depicts both sides of Islam, tolerance and intolerance, good Muslims and fanatic Muslims, it is the terrorist Muslims that are winning out. I once spoke to a group in Florida-Jews, Christians, and Muslims. One Muslim man spoke up, indicating that terrorism and suicide attacks are against Islamic law, Sharia. I asked why then do Muslims go against the words of their Quran and what is he, his imam and other Muslims prepare to do about it. He looked at me in disbelief, saying he was not so crazy to confront them and jeopardize his life and the safety of his wife and children. It seems that it is not only non-Muslims who are treading lightly with these Islamic terrorists, but the peaceful Muslims as well. We are all asleep at the wheel, afraid to wake up and do something about a world-threatening situation that will continue to grow more threatening because of our gripping fear of confronting militant fanatics, of our own fears of being labeled rigid and dogmatic.

I think Pastor Jones missed a great opportunity to explain the Koran, as you do, to sleeping Americans or those who will not see what a violent and destructive this religion/government really is. Of course the Obama media would have probably edited out the directive to kill non muslims and that it is prefectly OK to lie if it advances Islam. I believe FOX News would have reported these observations. Unless I missed something, I didn’t hear the Pastor bring up these points.

Any person with a limited knowledge of Islam probably believes that Imam in NY is lying through his teeth and actually threatened Muslim violence if he was denied permission to build the “Victory Mosque”.

I would never confront a Muslim on the street about the dark tenants of Islam or even be rude to one unless confronted.

I do believe that they are biding their time, just like they do in Europe, to become the dominant force in the world. Then Watch Out!

  24. Yury Gurvich September 12, 2010 at 6:37 pm #

I do NOT buy the argument that only fascists could burn books. Some books deserve auto da-fe – and the “Holly” Koran is one of them. So, I fully support the pastor who tried to do just that. America was built as a Christian country – this is why we all immigrated here, because of the Christian values. Muslims are invited here to assimilate, not to fight the society, the idea and the religion. They are mocking our values and should expect the resistance. Let them go back to their native countries or ….: it is their choice.

I just want to say that it’s been time for Americans to have awakened and aggressively address this ever-growing threat from the Muslim world. I don’t see any reaction from the public at all. It is time to take charge and do what we have to do before it’s too late.

We are at war and we don’t know it! These people want us all dead just because we are non-Muslim infidels.

I was surprised that at the memorials on Sat at ground Zero, the “great unifier” of all religions was visibly absent from the area of ground zero. I’d have thought it would have been a great opportunity to bring his message of understanding to all those who don’t seem to understand why he should build his ‘trophy mosque’ where his people killed 3000 innocent americans.

  30. Darrell P September 13, 2010 at 11:03 am #

Marshall, thanks again for your discussion of the Muslim “issue.” In spite of the obvious crisis, however, I am greatly encouraged by the responses to your article. Previously, some of your readers didn’t believe we actually have a problem, while some others didn’t really understand the problem was SERIOUS. Now, everyone seems to “get it.” Thank you for having the courage to continue writing about the dangers presented by radical Muslims. My great concern however, is whether we are going to sit idly by and watch what’s happening to our country as too many Germans did when the Nazis took over, or whether we actually are going to fight back. Your excellent article of August 27th, “What American Can Do? Act!” outlines some actions we can take. If those steps and others like them fail, GOD help all Muslims…because this is going to get very ugly, very quickly.

  31. Charles H. Dore September 13, 2010 at 1:33 pm #

We’re in horrid position regardless of the possible burning of the “Koran”, the Mosque at “Ground Zero” and what these pro-Muslim beliefs imply. The American public is far from being learned, and actually acts with supreme stupidity. We were repulsed and rebuked with horrendous threats of reprisal and not one word of admonition from our President!

The Muslim population in the USA has grown since 1970 from 700,000 to a present 9,000,000, or more. Whether they be “extremists” or not, they have unwarranted influence; I doubt that any of their heritage fought the British in 1776. There here because they wanted to be, or are an underground “5th Column” like that employed by the Nazi prior to and during WW II! The war with Muslims of the Ottoman Empire began in 1801; ask any Marine about the “shores of Tripoli”. I wonder if our “leaders” ever learned of the cause of the First Barbary War that was fought because of the same beliefs that are prevalent today.

Europe, the fire bombing of Frankfurt, Hamburg, and Tokyo, the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the “others” with the hundreds of V-2 rockets prior bombs rained on the UK, the thousand of Kamikaze’s were a part of WW II. Having endured and paid-back these atrocities, we effectively destroyed all weapons, the means and will to fight. Following Pearl Harbor, the Bataan Death March and zillions of atrocities, there were no “Rules of Engagement” impounded on those who represented the “allies” versus Hitler and the Japanese who acted in the same manner as today’s hedonistic Muslims. We gave back what we received!

Yes, civilians allied with enemy forces are in “harm’s way”, and became inflicted as casualties of war. It’s been that way since time memorial. War and its outcome is not peaceful by any means, or method!

We’ve been forewarned that the extremists intend/ed to extract a more meaningful disaster during the incident of “Koran burning” and the construction of a Mosque at the hallowed “Ground Zero” site.

All non-combatants from all non-Muslim nations should be mandatorily withdrawn from all mid-Eastern and Muslim nations. That would include members of the diplomatic corps, and all but uniformed armed servicemen.

I advocate that we should advise Muslim residents one (1) week prior that a city that has been chosen because of known heavy resistance by Taliban extremists, is going to be obliterated in 10-days, and that all persons of repute should evacuate it in a peaceful manner.

Upon notification a strong force should immediately surround, encircle and fortify the entire area of the city with entrenched fortifications that are impenetrable from all sides with over-lapping howitzer, tank, mortar and machine gun placement. No one would be allowed to depart, or enter the city during the period that the fortifications were being installed. This would be further enforced by air, artillery, mortar and tanks that would be used to their maximum extent during periods of both night and day .

The women (separated from the men and searched by women of our forces), and all other evacuees would be totally voided of any weapons as they were evacuated. All would be housed under viscous military control throughout this period and afterward in a tent city (better tan their mud huts) that was prepared during the 10-days previous to our “action”.

On that 10th Day, all possible weapons within our total repertoire of arms (cruise missiles to rifle fire) should be employed for a period of not less than a week. The city should be leveled with not a piece of clay larger than a basketball left standing.

Only then should our troops move into the remains of the city with orders that if “anything” moves it should immediately be shot and obliterated. The only thing left would be former Taliban or their “allies” whether they are they men, women or children! The sensible residents would still have their tent city that would give them more cover than they deserve.

We would then have left our “sign” that we should not be harmed, or threatened, or the same would occur again, but without the kindness shown the residents of that initial city that was chosen to show our capabilities and future intentions should anything similar occurr. The world should be notified that should any war-like moves toward Israel would be treated in the same manner!

All personnel should be withdrawn from not only Afghanistan and Iraq, but all Muslim countries including those in the Middle East, Oceania and Africa. Any future diplomacy could take place in a neutral Christian country. There’s no need to have any American to be in “harm’s way” by living, or visiting countries that show malice towards Americans and their allies.

While we’re still strong, we must use our leverage and not be fools! Forfeit not one more American life on American soil, or overseas for naught! Our senseless actions, and the resulting returns, as endorsed by our “leaders” over the past 60-years have been abominable!

Remember this on November 2nd when you cast your vote!

    Extremely well documented blog Marshall!
You make the case for Key’s comment: >

To classify Islam as a religion is like classifying the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea as a democracy or as a Republic….for that matter.

To Charles Dore: Only one (or maybe a few things) wrong with your solution to the “Muslim Problem”. Do you think the Taliban will stick around when they hear of your impending insurgency? You didn’t mention to what extent the horrors you plan to inflict would impact the Muslim world; the big majority who aren’t radical or terrorists…….a mere billion people. Are you going to kill them all? Did you have to throw in the children too? Don’t bother grabbing your pitchforks and your weapons folks…..because your own fears and xenophobia will be the thing that is going to precipitate the destruction of not only our own nation, but the rest of the world. You mentioned a “neutral Christian country”……do you not know anything about Christian ethics? And the one who inspired the religion of Christianity who made the supreme sacrifice to save us from ourselves? If you aren’t Christian, perhaps look toward your own religion for guidance…..and if you don’t have a religion, maybe look into the mirror….and see your own reflected soul. The kind of rhetoric in some of the blogs of Marshall’s followers is reminiscent of other times when credos took a twisted turn and “solutions” became genocide. Those weapons your mind is playing with…..the weapons that would have to be used to effect the annihilation of Muslim cities as you described, are capable of leaving our own beleaguered earth un-inhabitable.

There are solutions….EDUCATION……COMMUNICATION… opportunities now to reach other cultures and exchange ideas……believe it or not, this is happening in spite of the lunatic fringe of charlatans and fanatics that impede the progress toward the peaceful solutions that exchanging knowledge and ideas can bring. A higher noble purpose and action will always win against evil intent if allowed to be played out and implemented. We humans are a dangerous species when we run amok……..we need to heed the words of good men who don’t salivate over the thrill of war games. Give peace a chance.

Muhammad left nothing to chance. Converts to his new faith were implored to kill all those resistant to the message. “Submission”, the underpinning of Islam, required obedience to this order.
“Reason” was the casualty. That word is the dividing line in today’s world.

So well put Marshall! How about a plan? Any plan, even a battle plan. How about a way to stir the masses to rise up? Right now Jew, Christian, Hindu and other religions out number the Muslims, but what about 50 or 100 years from now? The way things are going, I have a fear most will be hearing the adhān from minarets!
